(October 4, 2018) – We are proud to announce another great achievement towards becoming a global benchmark in the world of international standards.

From September 12, 2018, PECB’s scope of accreditation has been extended by the International Accreditation Service (IAS) to include certifications for ISO 20121. Following a successful scope extension witness assessment performed by IAS, PECB has confirmed adding ISO 20121 to its scope of accreditation under the IAS Management System Certification Body accreditation program for ISO/IEC 17021 series of standards.

As part of the accreditation process, PECB has certified the Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS), one of the largest events organized by United Nations Foundation under ISO 20121 - Event Sustainability Management Systems Certification.

“Becoming a management system certification body accredited for ISO 20121 - Event Sustainability Management Systems is another milestone achieved by PECB. This accreditation reflects our commitment to excellence, competence, and approach to continually improve towards achieving our vision in becoming a global benchmark for the provision of professional certification services,” affirmed the President & COO of PECB, Faton Aliu.

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to lead the ISO 20121 audit on behalf of PECB for the Global Climate Action Summit. As someone with a great interest in sustainability and indeed the aims of the summit I was very pleased to see the clear commitment to and enthusiasm for sustainability demonstrated by all of the event organizers and staff and many of the innovative solutions being implemented ahead of the summit. Many aspects of sustainability have clearly been integrated into the summit covering areas such power use, zero emission vehicles, waste reduction and minimization, commitment to locally sourced food and catering alongside a positive social impact with items and meals being donated to local charities and community groups.

It was a pleasure to play a small part in this event [and] I hope the PECB certification helps to demonstrate this commitment and that the event is an overall success,” remarked Graeme Parker, the Lead Auditor of this audit.

About IAS

IAS is a wholly owned subsidiary of the International Code Council (ICC) based in Brea, California. IAS is a private, nonprofit organization providing a public-benefit service to the industry, stakeholders and consumers.

IAS accredits testing and calibration laboratories, inspection agencies, management system certification bodies, personnel certification bodies, and product certification agencies. The accreditation process requires applicants to demonstrate compliance with IAS accreditation criteria and the relevant international standards such as ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17021 series, ISO/IEC 17024, and ISO/IEC 17065 respectively. Compliance with these requirements is determined by verifying the applicant and/or accredited organization’s technical competence and management documentation systems through a series of onsite and field witness assessments conducted by IAS.

IAS maintains signatory status with the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) for accreditation of testing, calibration, inspection programs and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) for product certification and management system programs in the disciplines of quality management systems (ISO 9001) and environmental management systems (ISO 14001). This means that endorsed certificates issued by IAS-accredited entities in these areas have global reach and acceptance. For more information, please visit www.iasonline.org
